Local Flora - Autumn Edition
Welcome to my photo-blog about the local plant life! This is a very pretty area, and the flora has a lot to do with that, so I've been taking photos of some of the trees, flowers, and what-not that have caught my eye as I've walked around town.
First, street decor. There are a few key intersections in town. Some of them feature large olive trees, like this one. I love olive trees.

Very large olive tree in the center of a traffic circle.
Second, the olive orchards. There are at least two of these small orchards in town.

Large black drum with spigot on boards set atop smaller steel drums.

Ripe olives on the trees.

Harvesting!
Olive trees can also be found in many a private yard. Sometimes they're planted along the street almost like a privacy hedge, sometimes they're in a mini-orchard with other fruit-bearing trees.
In addition to olive, people here grow pomegranates, figs, apricots, limes or lemons, flowers, and more. Here are a few examples:

A pomegranate tree - they're quite pretty!

Apricots!

Purple flower-bush/tree against white rock ediface.

I believe this is a fig tree (can't really see the fruit in this photo, sorry.)
Meanwhile, down at Vižula Archaeological Park, there are flowers, a small garden, and plenty of trees.

Sandy gravel path through the trees.

Part of the cultivated garden area. Roses and what-not.

Pretty yellow wildflower, similar to snapdragons.

Pretty blue and white wildflower.

Pretty purple wildflower.

The path again through trees, one with a limb arching over the path.
Finally, there are some random plants around town:

Cacti!

Red berries of unknown variety. Must learn what this is...

These red berries seem to be rosehips. Turns out they make nice jam!

Black/blue berries of unknown variety. More to learn...
And here's a close-up of some really cool pinetree bark.

I love it when pine bark is has orange in it.
It'll be interesting to see how the landscape changes through the seasons, but so far, I'm quite happy with the autumn flora on offer. I hope you enjoyed seeing some of what I see.
