Early Spring

Istria in February

I haven’t experienced such an early spring since I lived in Georgia (the US state, not the country). I think it got even warmer in February there, if I recall correctly. But let’s talk about Istria!

Here in southwestern Istria, the earliest spring flowers began blooming by mid-February. There are trees blooming and budding out. And at the end of the month, I noticed fresh flowers in the planter boxes on the waterfront.

The weather has improved, as well. There’s been a lot more sun, as noted in a previous post. But even when it’s overcast, we’ve had highs in the low 50s for weeks now. It’s lovely!

Last week, I spotted flower and vegetable seeds in the local grocery store!

So here we are. Spring in February! Meanwhile, back in Indiana they’ve had snow multiple times. I am both happy and jealous, lol.

Mostly, though, I’m glad to see the sun so often.
