Checking Out Kamenjak

I recently met a few of the local expats, and on a nice afternoon in November, a few of us went to Kamenjak. Kamenjak is a little south of Pula and encompasses a protected nature area (not sure if it’s a park, preserve, etc.) with walking trails, pine trees, beautiful coastline - and dinosaur footprints!

We got to Kamenjak only a couple hours before sunset, but that was enough time to enjoy a short walk to the water and a small beach, and another shot but more technical walk down a rocky drop to see some dinosaur footprints.

The three-toed dinosaur footprints were pretty hard to make out in person. They’re nigh impossible to see in photographs like this one. Can you see the footprint? I took this photo and even I can’t find it, lol.

The short hike down to the dinosaur prints and back up was fun, but bothered my feet. It’s been a while since I’ve hiked and all I have with me are ordinary sneakers, so if I want to do more of this sort of thing, I’ll definitely need to invest in some hiking boots.

You can’t really see it in these photos, but there are small caves along that opposite shore - the type you could theoretically enter by small boat or by swimming.
